Elrom Center for Air and Space Studies
About the Center
Established in December 2021 at Tel Aviv University in collaboration with the Israeli Air Force (IAF), the Elrom Center for Air and Space Studies serves as a leading academic hub dedicated to the study of air and space power, policy, and strategy.
The Center seeks to advance interdisciplinary research on the evolving role of air and space domains in national security, international politics, and technological innovation. By integrating perspectives from political science, security studies, engineering, law, and related disciplines, the Center develops cutting-edge research that addresses both theoretical debates and pressing policy challenges.
The Elrom Center brings together academic scholars, defense practitioners, and policy experts—particularly from the Israeli Air Force—to foster dialogue and collaboration between academia and the defense establishment. Through research projects, publications, conferences, and educational initiatives, the Center contributes to informed strategic thinking on issues such as air superiority, integrated air and missile defense, space policy, emerging technologies, and great-power competition.
The Center’s mission is threefold: to serve as a focal point for research and teaching in air and space studies at Tel Aviv University; to strengthen Israel’s academic and strategic expertise in these domains; and to cultivate the next generation of scholars and professionals dedicated to understanding the strategic, technological, and policy dimensions of air and space power.
