Dr. Alex Dan
Senior Researcher
Dr. Alex Dan is a Senior Research Fellow at the Elrom Center for Air and Space Studies. He previously served as Director General of Israel’s Ministry of Intelligence. Prior to that, he held senior management positions as Deputy CEO of Israel Railways and as a Business Unit Manager at Elbit Systems.
Dr. Dan served in the Israeli Air Force (IAF) as a helicopter pilot and squadron commander. In his final military position, he was Head of the Operations Intelligence Department in the Air Intelligence Group.
He holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Tel Aviv University and an M.A. (cum laude) in Social Sciences from the University of Haifa. He is a graduate of the IDF Command and Staff College and the National Defense College. Dr. Dan earned his Ph.D. from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, where his research examined physiological measures of cognitive load and their application in assessing learning in 3D virtual environments.
His research focuses on air power force design and strategy, with particular emphasis on the future of unmanned systems and innovative operational concepts.
